The Port of Aqaba is strategically positioned at latitude 29-31 North, longitude 35-01 East, on the northern shore of the Gulf of Aqaba in southern Jordan. This vital port is segmented into three primary zones, each designed to cater to specific types of maritime traffic:

1. The Main Port Zone:

Situated near the town of Aqaba, the Main Port Zone comprises 12 berths, including the old and new phosphate berths, spanning a total length of 2,120 meters. These berths are equipped to handle general cargo, grain, phosphate, and lighter traffic, accommodating vessels with displacements up to 70,000 tons and drafts up to 13 meters. Each berth features a 35-meter wide apron, transit sheds, semi-covered sheds, and open storage areas, ensuring efficient cargo handling and storage.

2. The Middle / Container Port Zone:

Located 5 kilometers from the Main Port Zone, the Middle/Container Port Zone includes 7 berths with a combined length of 1,000 meters. This zone is specialized for handling containers, rice, livestock, Ro-Ro (roll-on/roll-off) cargo, cement, vegetable oil, and passenger traffic. Key berths in this zone include Mo’ta 1, Mushtarak/Mutual 2, Container 3, and Yarmuk 4 Berth.

3. The Industrial Port Zone:

Positioned 18 kilometers south of the Main Port Zone, the Industrial Port Zone comprises three main berths: Oil Jetty 1, Timber 2, and Industrial 3. This zone is dedicated to handling industrial cargo, providing essential facilities for the region’s industrial needs.
